AI and Its Boring Foundation

SOUTHWEST Session: Everyone talks about AI — few talk about the “boring” foundation that makes it work. In manufacturing, most AI dreams collapse under the weight of messy spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and inconsistent data. This session cuts through the hype to reveal why data discipline—not algorithms—is the real competitive edge. We’ll explore how small and mid-sized manufacturers can turn their existing data into a living foundation for AI, move beyond endless pilots, and start making decisions that learn and adapt on their own. If you’ve ever wondered why your AI projects stall — or how even to get started with them — this talk is for you.

A New Era of Inspection: Achieving Manufacturing Excellence through Industrial CT Technology

SOUTHWEST Session: This session will explore the transformative potential of industrial CT technology to revolutionize quality control in manufacturing and product development. Attendees will learn how CT enables faster, more accurate inspections, improves defect detection, and reduces waste while accelerating innovation and ensuring product reliability. We will examine the challenges of adopting these systems, including cost, workflow integration, and training, and share best practices for successful implementation across industries. In addition, we will highlight the role of automated inspection systems, their integration with complementary technologies, and what the future of digital quality control holds for organizations seeking a sustainable competitive edge in manufacturing.

Evolution of Material Disruption with Automation & AI

SOUTHWEST Session: This demonstration showcases how agentic automation streamlines material replacement and inventory management using UiPath Maestro. The flow begins with an MTR (Material Test Report) being received, processed, and linked to its corresponding purchase order (PO). Upon identifying a defective material, the system transitions to a Maestro-driven workflow where an intelligent agent analyzes the issue, reviews inventory, and finds suitable substitute materials. The agent then recommends replacements based on availability and need. A human operator reviews and refines these recommendations—such as adjusting shipping quantities—and approves an automatically drafted email prepared by the remediation agent for the customer and requisition team. The demo concludes by highlighting how this automation fits into a larger source-to-pay and manufacturing management process, improving speed, accuracy, and end-to-end efficiency.
