Dr. Andrew Shone joined Tokamak Energy in 2024 and is the Fusion Development Lead for Tokamak Energy’s U.S. subsidiary, Tokamak Energy Inc. His responsibilities include work on the DOE Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program, the Lithium Evaporations to Advance PFCs in ST40 (LEAPS) Program, and North American strategic partnership development. He is a seasoned researcher with over a decade of experience and multiple publications in the field of fusion research. He earned his BS, MS, and PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he specialized in liquid-metal plasma facing components and fusion engineering. Dr. Shone is passionate about finding ways to accelerate the development of fusion power plants and motivated to bring commercial fusion energy to reality through Tokamak Energy’s spherical tokamak and high-temperature superconducting magnet approach.
